| Abstract | This study proposes a residential heat exchanger assisted hybrid heat pump system. The proposed system directly supplies domestic hot water without a storage tank to overcome space limitations and to reduce heat loss. The annual energy performance of the proposed system and a conventional tank-based system was analyzed through dynamic energy simulation. The results show that the proposed system, compared to the conventional system, reduces annual primary energy consumption by approximately 17.1%; Reduction of required system flow rate is about 53.2%. The result showed the potential of the proposed tankless system on energy- and space-efficiency of heating and DHW supply in residential buildings. |
