| Abstract | This study proposes a unit-based ground source heat pump system to achieve zero energy buildings in apartment buildings and evaluates its energy performance using TRNSYS 18 simulation. The proposed system utilizes water supplied from a ground heat exchanger as a heat source for individual unit heat pumps, which supply heating or cooling based on seasonal demand. This system was compared to conventional individual air conditioner and boiler systems. Simulation results for a 56-unit apartment in the metropolitan climate of South Korea showed that the proposed system reduced primary energy consumption compared to conventional system. |
