AbstractGlobal warming reduces the heat dissipation of air-source heat pump(ASHP) condensers, increasing energy consumption. This study proposes a direct evaporative cooler utilizing exhaust air from an energy recovery ventilator to improve ASHP performance. In summer, mixing outdoor air with exhaust air can lower both temperature and humidity, improving the cooling performance of the evaporative cooler. This improvement enhances the heat dissipation of ASHP condenser and ultimately reduces energy consumption of the heat pump. To evaluate the cooling performance improvement of the heat pump, a simulation applying the proposed system was conducted during the summer season. The results showed a 15.1% reduction in energy consumption and a 0.7 increase in SCOP compared to a conventional heat pump system.
