| Abstract | Electrification is identified as a key strategy in reducing energy consumption in buildings. In apartment buildings, gas powers 80% of hot water supply systems, making heat pump systems a promising alternative. This study evaluated the cooling and hot water performance of a cascade heat pump system through empirical testing, comparing its multi-functional capabilities to a single heat pump system. The cascade heat pump showed a 15.3% improvement in EER, suggesting that adopting such systems in residential buildings could enhance building electrification efforts and increase energy savings. |
