AbstractThe main objective of this study is to analyze the exergy performance of the proposed liquid desiccant dehumidifier based on solution atomization using ultrasound compared with the conventional dehumidifier using packing materials. The thermal and chemical exergy were estimated at each state of the working fluid to assess the exergy destruction and efficiency. The result indicated that the proposed dehumidifier had 57% exergy efficiency, while the conventional dehumidifier had an exergy efficiency of 11%. The reason is that the exergy destruction of the proposed dehumidifier was lower than that of the conventional dehumidifier because of the heat and mass transfer characteristics of the ultrasonic atomization based liquid desiccant dehumidifier. Finally, the proposed dehumidifier improves energy loss not only in quantity but also in quality compared to the conventional dehumidifier.
