AbstractThe multi-zone network model enables the easy and fast prediction of the airflow inside the building, ventilation system performance, and concentration transport and dispersion, compared to other simulation programs. However, the exact building parameters need to be entered correctly in order to ensure that the simulation can replicate the phenomenon inside the building in the most similar manner when the phenomenon inside the building is predicted by using the simulation. However, the characteristics of parameters vary, depending on the buildings. The simulation does not exactly match the conditions of real building because the parameters are entered based on subjective judgment of the researchers when the phenomenon inside the building is predicted based on simulation results. Thus, the calibration for the parameter is required. The calibration process was established, and the validity of the model generated by the established process was verified. In this study, the air-tightness was measured for some elements of the building, as well as the building envelope of real building, to evaluate the accuracy in order to verify the validity of calibration process. The results showed a considerable inconsistency between the uncalibrated model and real experimental results, and it was found that the calibrated model matched the real experimental results more than the uncalibrated model.
